Background

What is MUN?
Model United Nations is a simulation of UN done by students all around the world. In MUN
conferences, students are trying to resolve various issues in different simulations of UN
committees as delegates and act regarding their country policies.

How can I prepare for the conference?
Delegates can prepare themselves for the conference by reading the study guides of their
committees and do extra researches related to the agenda item. It is also essential to have a
good understanding of the policies of the country you are representing as a delegate.

Do I have to attend all sessions?
Delegates who are absent for more than two sessions will not receive a certificate of
participation.

What is the dress code?
The dress code for SOBILMUN is Western business attire. All participants should wear
formal clothing in the conference. In order to accomplish a formal look, sneakers and jeans
should be avoided. For male delegates, it is obligated to wear a jacket and a tie/bowtie while
delivering a speech.

Who can apply to the conference?
Every high school and university student can attend the conference.

What is the procedure of the conference?
SOBILMUN mainly embraces rules of procedure applied by the Harvard Model United Nations.

What is the official language of committees? In SOBILMUN’20 there are two official languages. Fourteen committees will be simulated in
English and one committee will be simulated in the French language.
